Starting out with nothing but the knowledge handed down from his forebearers and his interest in Ayurveda, Dr. Mathews Vempilly founded this hospital, in 2011. It was his vision, passion and determination to make the services accessible and affordable to every family. This dream and determination was the driving force behind Vempilly Ayurveda Hospital to become a global leader in Orthopaedic Management and Sports and Exercise Medicines (SEM) services. His entrepreneurial spirit, a commitment to community, a focus on long-term strategic thinking that is all deeply rooted in their family’s values, facilitated this institution with the noblest cause reach its present status of grandeur and glory.

1st Gen
LATE MATHAI VAIDYAN was a renowned practitioner during his time who was well known for his knowledge and expertise in healing using Marma Chikitsa techniques
2nd Gen
LATE CHACKO MATHAI VAIDYAN followed the footsteps of his father into the path of practicing Marma Chikitsa by establishing the first clinic for Ayurvedic treatment at Perumbillichirakkara in Karikode, Kerala.
3rd Gen
In the 19 th century, LATE CHACKO PAILY VAIDYAN a renowned traditional Marma practitioner of his generation established an Ayurvedic treatment center with an in-house medicine manufacturing unit beside Nagapuzha Church.
4th Gen
LATE DR. JOSEPH P. VEMPILLY DAM (Diploma In Integrated Medicine from Trivandrum Ayurveda College) followed the art and science of Marma Therapy and Ayurvedic treatment as handed down from his ancestral lineage for a short period of time.
5th Gen
Dr. Mathews Vempilly belonging to the 5th generation had decided to re-establish the family service, turning his mother’s dream of starting a hospital into reality. After a gap of 25 years, with his elder brother Sunny Joseph's firmness in purpose and planning and Dr. Mathews’ unswerving perseverance, he founded Vempilly Ayurveda Hospital in 2011.
Dr. Mathews, a pioneer of sports and exercise medicine(SEM) in Kerala, graduated from Vaidyaratnam P. S. Varier Ayurveda College in 1986, and completed his master’s degree Government Ayurveda College Trivandrum in 1992. He served as the Chief Medical Officer at Kerala Ayurveda Limited and department of Indian Systems of Medicines, Kerala from 1990 to 1996 and 1997 to 2017 respectively.
